Why does my GPA use credits, not just grades? ›

Do failed courses (F grade) still count in the GPA? ›
Yes, in this calculator an F carries a grade point of 0 but its credits are still added to the total credit count — because that's how it works at most universities: the course was attempted, so it still weighs down the average even though it contributes zero points. If your institution instead excludes failed or repeated courses from the credit total entirely, leave that row's grade blank rather than selecting F, so it's skipped from both sides of the calculation.
Why do the class/rank bands change between the two scales? ›
